Small Turbines

Bryan J Rendall (Electrical) Ltd are members of the REAL Assurance Scheme and are Accredited Installers under the Microgeneration Certification Scheme.    For more information on these, please click on the banners below -

Please note, only installers who are members of REAL and are MCS accredited can carry out installations for grant assistance. We are the only fully accredited Orkney installer for small wind installation.  We strongly advise you to make sure your installer is MCS accredited before signing up to have a turbine installed.  You can check the status of your prospective installer on the listings the Real Assurance and the MCSwebsites - If the Installers name isn't listed, then they aren't accredited.  Note that for grant assistance, both the Product (wind turbine) and the Installer must be separately accredited.  In addition, the Energy Savings Trust now recommend that only fully MCS accredited installers be used.

In addition, only small turbines listed on the MCS Transitional List will qualify for installation grant support and revenue support streams such as ROC's and the proposed Feed In Tarriff.  We are pleased to announce that the Eoltec Scirocco is one of the Transitional List turbines, and therefore qualifies for grant and revenue assistance.

We only supply and install wind turbines we know will be highly productive and reliable, even in extreme environments like Orkney and Shetland.  Turbines that underproduce, or keep breaking down are a worthless asset.  After a lot of experience of quite a few different manufacturers of turbines, we are pleased to offer wind turbines manufactured by Eoltec and Wind Energy Solutions

Choosing which turbine is right for you, and deciding where to site it, might seem like a daunting task, so we have put together this guide to help you.

The Eoltec turbines have an extremely good track record of performance and reliability, even in Orkney.  The Scirocco will produce 6.5 kW into the grid at full power (that's 6.5 kW of useable power at the inverter output terminals) when used with the twin inverter option, and accordingly produce exceptionally high kWh's per year (up to 25,550 kWh per year has been recorded!).  They are very much "fit and forget" turbines, requiring only an annual service.  Breakdowns are virtually unheard of, and should they be required, unlike other turbines, spares are available next day delivery, off the shelf!  Eoltec Sciroccos are the highest producing 6 kW turbines in the Orkney Islands, and also the most numerous, having become the standard choice for reliability and productivity in one of the country's harshest environments, and outnumbering all other models of small turbines put together.

In a recent trial by the Energy Savings Trust, the Eoltec turbine came out as the highest producing turbine of 57 sites across the UK.  You can read an article on the trials on the BBC website, HERE

The Eoltec Scirocco is now available for installation throughout the UK under the Low Carbon Building Programme, Phase 2 - This means it can be used for installation at schools and other community buildings.  4 Sciroccos have been installed at schools in Orkney, and to date is the only turbine selected by the local authority for this very demanding application.
